  1. Just to make sure kids are responsable enough, I think the age is around 12 or 13.  I think you should wait a bit.

Ps. Isn't yahoo answers for older teenagers and adults. Well oh well.  I don't care anyways.

  2. It all depends on the person you are babysitting for and their feeling on how old the babysitter should be but the best way to find out if someone will let you baby sit for them is to print out a nice flyer with your phone number and a brief description of your qualities make sure to mention that you are punctual and mature and reliable

  3. it depends on how mature and responsible you are.

    but mostly its 13.

but you could try, cause most likely you might be able to.

  4. My daughter has been babysitting full time since she was 11.  She did it a few times at 10, but a parent was also with her.

The key thing is trust.  If the people trust you, it won't be a problem at 11.  If they are complete strangers they will probably not want an 11 year old taking care of their kids.

  5. I think 13 to stay with them over night and any age other than that

  6. I started babysitting when I was 12, I took a babysitting/first aid course and showed potential babysitting employers the certificate

  7. There's no specific age. I started when I was 11.

  8. at least 13 i say

  9. usually around 13 years of age.

  10. It depends on the age of the children you baby-sit!   If you are babysitting a 7 year old then you probably want to be 13 or 14.  Just because of the age difference!

  11. 16. At least my kids. I'd want you to be able to run them to the ER if an emergency occurred.

  12. it depend where u leave???

here in CA, USA u cannot be home alone if your not 13yrs old. but in the philippines even 1yrs old child could able to buy cigarette at that age...lol but to be honest filipino are more independent than different country........even a child could start working at young age just to survived to leave.

  13. It really depends on how mature you are, how much confidence and knowledge you have, and if the parents feel comfortable with you.

I was 9 when I started babysitting - and by 12 had my own business cards that I passed out to neighbors, friends, and my parent's coworkers.  It would be a good idea to get the Red Cross Training in CPR/First-Aid.  And, I would limit yourself to only 2 or 3 kids at a time - any more than that can be really overwhelming.  It's up to you about whether or not to do overnight babysitting - if you think you might want to, I would at least watch the kids during the day to make sure you get along okay.

Last thoughts... Don't feel bad about turning down future jobs with a family if you and the kids don't mix well.  Make sure your pay arrangements are made before the parents leave - you don't want to watch the kids for 6 hours and get paid $6.00 - that happened to me once!  Don't spend your time talking on the phone or watching tv, unless the kids are sleeping.  Clean up any messes you and/or the kids make... and if you want the parents to be really happy and maybe even tip  you, clean up anything else that needs it (dishes, laundry, etc.).

    Good Luck!

  14. atleast 15 or 16. ur way to young so u have to wait a couple of years.

  15. I started when I was about 11 or 12. I took safe sitter too, which is really helpful!  I bet your old enough to babysit. If your brother is really young, you probably have really good experience, but if he's like 9 he might be really easy because he can entertain himself. Since you're a beginner, I would start off with preschoolers or school-age kids, definitely not babies until you really know what you're doing!

  16. I wouldn't let anyone younger than 16 watch my kids, and even then not for more than an hour or two.
