Also what other qualifications do you need? Does anyone know if they are hiring baggage handlers at MacArthur airport?

  1. Typical Requirements and/or Experience

    Typical baggage handler requirements include, at least 18 years of age, high school graduate or equivalent, ability to work varied shifts, and valid driver’s license. During the interview process you must be able to provide a resume or employment history for the past 10 years including the names and phone numbers of a supervisors, address of residences for past 10 years, and names, addresses and phone numbers of 5 references.

    Some airlines hire their own handlers while others outsource the work to contractors.  Contact the main admin number for the airport and they'll point you in the right direction.


  2. 18 yrs of age for insurance purposes is a FAA regulation.

    You are now screened through the FBI and CIA computer data base to find out if you are a terrrorist threat. and there are weight and strength minimums. you have to lift a 75 lb bag basically.   dunno about the exact airport job availibility tho.
