How old do you have to be to be a model, and how do you get modeling jobs?

Question

And I mean for anything... how old do you have to be, and how do you get jobs for the catwalk, swimsuit ads, beauty products, clothing lines... and what other types of modeling are there, anyway?

my sister wants to model, so here is what i know:

i definetly think you have to be older than at least 14. If you are too young, they will send you to kid agencies.

There are many different fields in modeling, such as commercial and runway. If you want to be "discovered", you have to go to open calls. An open call is when to go in person to a modeling agency with snapshots and they evaluate you. It helps if you live near LA or New York.

You can also send pictures of yourself to modeling agencies, such as these:

There are photo guidelines. Here are the guidelines for Elite:

-Do not wear makeup

-keep hair natural and away from face

-do not pose

-use a plain wall

-wear a two-piece swimsuit

Keep in mind that modeling is very, very competitive and the agency 'rejects' you, you might recieve a letter such as this one:

"Thank you for your intrest in Ford Models and for submitting your photograph to us.

As you probably know, modeling is a very competitive buisness. We receive many submissions every year and can accept very few candidates.

After careful evaluation of your photographs, we have concluded that Ford Models will be unable to represent you.

We are returning your photograph (enclosed) and wish you every success in the future."

You can be any age. Usually you get modeling jobs just by walking down the street and a photographer notices you!!! So start walking

there is no age restriction get a portfolio of pics of youself

send it to an agency like mine and wait for jobs if you look good on camera you could make 200 -400 for one shoot for  a catalog

I am pretty sure its any age, depending on what you're modeling for and where you live. Magazines and cataloges are almost any age, unless it's play boy.

To find jobs you have to have an agent and a portfolio that usually cost anywhere from 300-1000dollars.

You can be any age.There are child models out there.I guess You have to send in a few pics of your self.Its a hard job to get into.I wouldn't recommend it though because you have to starve your self sometimes.

You can be a model at age 0 as a diaper baby or something. For something more adult like VS or maybe even swimsuit 18.

well at any age.. depends on wut you are modeling.. because they do have kid models for kid fashions, teen models for teen clothes... etc
