Im going on a cruise on the Nile right after my sixteenth birthday so right after the time it would be legal for me to drink in switzerland where i live. What rules apply when you're on the water? is it the same as the country you're in or where the cruise originated? Has anyone taken a Nile cruise? did you enjoy it? would you recommend anything?

  1. It is dependent on where the cruise considers home port. If the ship is departing from Switzerland and drinking age there is 16, than you should have no problems drinking while onboard the ship. If you were cruising from the USA the drinking age is 21 and would have to be that age in order to drink alcoholic beverages.

  2. I was in Egypt last June and did a Nile Cruise. If you look old enough (not a kid) they'll serve you. They don't really ask b/c they want the tip

  3. if the ship is swiss then rules are the same as in Switzerland

  4. If the cruise is originating in Egypt, they might not ask u about ur age at all. I went on an evening nile cruise last summer, and they don't ask for ID's or anything. If the cruise is originating elsewhere, then it depends on the drinking age of that country. I personally love nile cruises, specially the long ones. They have nice programs and good yummy food. The one I took was only couple of hours long, but I loved it.
