How old do you have to be to drive a golf cart?

Most clubs in USA require a valid drivers license.  

This is to keep children from driving daddies cart and having an accident.  This is an insurance issue for the golf course.

16 years of age and no older than 80 or it becomes dangerous but in that case there wouldnt be anyone on the golf course so yea i guess its 16

At my country club, you must be at least 14 to drive your own cart (that you own when you live on the edge of the golf course) and, technically, 16 to drive their golf carts. However, no one says much when a 12 or 13 year old drives the cart for a stretch along the way. :)

My brother is 24 and managed to accidentally crash a cart through a fence last week. Yes, it was a low fence, and he managed to get 2 wheels off the ground before the fence broke under the weight. Goes to show, some people are never old enough.

If the course, public or private, has liability insurance to cover cart damage or injury, rest assured that one of the stipulations is that a cart driver must have a valid driver's license before he is allowed to drive a golf cart. Any violation would make to club susceptible to a law suit.

Usually 16, but my club has a rule that you must be 21.  You should be walking the course anyway unless you can't due to some disability so don't worry about it.

99% of clubs have the following rules:

"You must be 16 years old to operate a golf buggy"

1% of clubs also insist on a driving licence!!
