  1. At 16, you can drive a 'moped', which is any vehicle with an engine size of 50cc or less, with a top speed of 45mph. That could be a scooter, or a small bike. However, it's it unrestriced, its classed as a motorbike and can be an arrestable offense if you still only carry the provisional licence.

    To ride this, you need a provisional licence, which involves a CBT certificate (compulsory basic training), as well as a theory test and the exam.

    At 17, you can then take a further test and an advanced theory test, and you can ride an 125cc bike/scooter.

    Then, at 21, you can take another exam and another test, to allow you to ride any size motorbike.

    To ride sports bikes in a sports race, I think you need to take another test - but dont quote me.
