How old do you have to be to establish credit?

does it matter if your young to esablish credit, and if your 15 with a negative mark on your credit history is there any thing to do to fix it, even though your 15 and had no income

  1. that mark will be gone by the time you're 22, all credit history (good or bad) stays around for 7 years.

    I'm not sure but i would think that you have to be 18 (unless you have a cosigned loan) to establish any type of credit.

    BTW don't let anyone use your credit... even your parents, they can really mess up your life. (putting your name on utility bills, and then not paying the bill, and then putting it in your sisters name, then brothers... etc.)


  2. You aren't allowed to have credit at all until you're 18...I have no idea how you'd have a black mark on it at 15

  3. Legally you have to be 18 to have your own credit. Maybe your parents have you on something that they have. Usually parents will help thier kids with a car loan when they turn 16. Many parents do this as a way to start giving children good credit. If they had a blemish however, this would also affect you. Thats my best guess. I would be curious to see how you even got anything at the age of 15.
