  1. THAT IS YOUR OLD OPTION UNLESS YOU GET A PREPAID ONE.A FEW DAYS AGO I GOT THE CHASE HIGH SCHOOL CHECKING ACCOUNT FOR THOSE 13-17. IT IS LINKED TO A PARENTS ACCOUNT. MY PACKAGE COMES WITH A VISA CHECK CARD. THERE ARE NO SERVICE FEES. ALL THE RULES APPLY WITH THIS ACCOUNT EXCEPT IF YOU OVERDRAFT IT IS TAKEN FROM YOUR PARENTS. SO BE CAREFUL. IT CONVERTS TO A FREE CHECKING ACCOUNT WHEN YOU TURN 19.

  2. Depends on where you live.

Ask the bank, but your parents would still have to go the bank with you.

  3. A debit card works with your checking account.

You'll have the option of writing checks to pay for things, or using your debit card to pay for things.

All of the money for the cost of these items will come out of your checking account.  You have to have the money already in your account in order to cover the cost of the items you're buying.  It's not like a credit card.

You need to be 18 at most banks to have a checking account/debit card by yourself.

But most banks will allow you to open one with your parent/guardian there with you.  It'll usually be put in their name as well as yours- they'll have access to it (can make deposits and such), but won't have to use it.

The primary name will be on the debit card.

  4. at least 18 and working with a bank account
