  1. 14 to fly with a flight instructor

17 to fly solo (private pilot certificate)

So, you can fly a plane with a certified instructor at 14, but if you want to fly you and your friends for a weekend get-a-way, 17.

  2. In the US...you can take lessons at any age.  16 to solo, 17 for private pilots license, 18 for commercial, 23 for airline transport pilot license.

  4. I believe the current rule is 16 to solo and 17 for a license.

  5. In the United States if you want to fly fixed wing aircraft its 16 to solo and 17 to get a license. You need to be 18 to get your commercial rating but you do not need your commercial rating. If you are looking for a simple answer to your question then it is...... 17 to complete your Private Pilots License.

  6. In the US:

--No minimum age to log flight training hours.

Minimum age to log solo flight time in gliders is 14.

Minimum age to be certified as private pilot--glider is 16.

  7. First guy got it right. 16 to solo, 17 for the certificate. That's for powered aircraft. You may be any age at all for taking training. For gliders and balloons, 14 to solo and 16 for the license.

  8. at least 21
