How old do you have to be to get a tatoo in IL?

my mom said i could get a tatoo and im 16..i live in wisconsin but you have to be 18 to get a tatoo even with a parent. and yea i want a tatoo cuz itll be cool. i failed my drivers test like 2 times and like everyone else in my class has their liscence and they pick on me cuz i failed then if i get a tatoo and they say ha ha i got my lisence and you dont. then i can be like ha ha i got a tatoo and you dont! lol so yea how old do u have to be to get a tatoo in illinois or michigan or minisota

Until recently, you had to be twenty-one to get a tattoo in Illinois. The age was lowered in 2006 to eighteen. Right now, it's pretty universal that the age for a tattoo is eighteen.

that is a terrible, terrible reason to get a tattoo.
