How old do you have to be to get a tattoo ?

in louisiana cause im 17 will be 18 in march and i have the money to get one but i dont feel like getting my moms permission to get it done soooo

does any one know any tattoo shops that i can go to in baton rouge louisiana?

I know in Canada there's no law that dictates it, but most places will not tattoo anyone under 18 without parental consent, or under 16 even with a parent.

you HAVE to be 18 unless your parent or guardian is there with you and signs consent form.

if a shop tattoos you and you are under 18 they can get fined and loose their license.

You have to be 18 to get it without parental permission. There are probably shady places nationwide that will look the other way, but you really want someone reputable coming at you with a needle.

In proffesional shops you have to be 18. If you are younger than that and have parental permission your parents can go into the shop and sign papers for you. But I guess if your mom won't give you permission then I guess that doesn't help. lol :) If you can't get it done in a shop then I wouldn't suggest trying to get it done by a friend or someone who doesn't know what they are doing. It isn't safe if you don't trust the person. If they know what they are doing and use sterile products then maybe it would be okay to get it done by someone outside of a shop just be careful when doing this. Good Luck getting your tattoo!
