How old do you have to be to get a visa credit/debit card in the UK?

Question

I run a website online so for most things online to buy you need a visa or mastercard - can I get one of these at 16? - ive heared of something called a visa electron card - is that what i need?

You might be able to get an acocunt that will let you have a debit card.  But you will be unable to get a credit card in the UK until you are 18, this is because you are legally unable to sign a credit contract until you are 18.

18, and u must be earning
