I'm going to be in college in September (16 years old) and I am going to be studying from 8 til 4 pretty much every day. I then have to come home and spend some time practicing my animation for my courses I will be possibly taking at Uni and during lessons at college, and also coursework and the like. I would only get very strict working hours and have found it hard to find jobs currently. Could someone answer the question or post places with very flexible working hours?

  1. You cannot get job seekers allowance unless you re looking for and available to work. Yo will be a full time student so not entitled.

Apply for EMA and then work weekends.

  2. well it sounds like you would still be in full time education? i don't think you can claim any benefits while you are in full time education

  3. The following people are unable to recieve benefits are (according to http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndB...

    students

    prisoners

    non-UK nationals

if you are under 18 years old

if you live permanently in residential care or a nursing home or hospital

jobs that you could do are,

    supermarket work

    waitering

    shop work

    call centre

    and many more....

and all of these have evening working hours, YOU decided to go to college, I had to work full time and study when i was your age, there is no way i would have even thought for a second about using the tax payers money to live.

i understand that you are going to college 8-4 but these are not long hours and there is still enough time during the day to work, i mean how much money do you need at 16?

get a job it's not difficult.

  4. To claim job seekers you must be 16-60 for women or 16-65 for men, and looking for work. You must be capable of working and be unemployed or be working less than 16 hours a week. As you will be in full education, I'm not sure if you qualify, but your local Job Centre should be able to tell you.All payment and age figures at the 1st link.

You may be able to qualify for EMA - something like £30 a week for teenagers in full education - depending on what your guardians earn. Info at 2nd link.
