How old do you have to be to get your belly pierced?

I went to get my navel pierced at camden market yesterday, but was told the law in the UK is you have to be 16 even with my dad there, is this true?

my frined was 14 and she got hers pierced so yeah ur old enough

I dont live in the UK but here in Cali you can be any age i think with a parent but i think its better you wait till 16..anything younger and people could look at you like a s***k..
