Just out of curiosity, I know you have to be 16 to get your pilot license but I wasn't sure about co-pilot.

  1. My cousin was 16.  He is now the youngest co-pilot ever hired by US Airways.  I think thats the minimum age.

  2. No such thing as a co-pilot license, friend.

    It's just a license.  You can be a co-pilot with a pilot's license.

Beware, someone will probably tell you it isn't a license, it's a rating or certificate.  No worries.  Everyone calls it a license.

  3. There is no Co-Pilot Licence. What are you going to do if the Pilot is incapacited?? Private Pilots Licence/Certificate run about 6,000 dollars, Sport Pilots are less. You have to be 16 to get the PPL/C

  4. There is no such license a a co-pilots license.

Think of the pilots license as the physical document and think of the co-pilot (first officer or second-in-commend... depending on where you work) as one position that you may be hired onto.

At an airline, you need the license first before you can be the first officer.  Once you have been first officer for an amount of time, you would move to the left seat and be Captain.

    Hope this answers your question.

  5. There is no such thing as a separate "license" or certification for a "co-pilot."

To become a solo Student Pilot you must be 16, and you must be 17 to get a Private Pilot Certificate.

To secure the Commercial Pilot Certificate, so you can fly for hire, you must be 18 and have 200-250 hours, depending on the classification of school you attend.

    Good luck!
