I am 16 years old and I want to open a bank account, but my parents do not agree with it. I would reather put it into a bank and watch it grow, but they don't see it. DO i need to have parental consent or an adult?

  1. I'm thinking 16. I have over $1,000 saved and it's in my parent's account right now because I'm 15. My mom said that when I turn 16 my money will be moved into my own account.

  2. First of all, good for you. No idea why your parents are against this. That is silly.

My "bank" is a Credit Union. See if you can find a CU near you -- they are great and often have better rates. My CU requires the following:

You are required to be over age 13 to open an account online.

    Driver's License or a Passport

    U.S. Social Security Number

U.S. Citizenship or resident alien status

  3. you can be any age but if your under 18 guess what u need your parents
