Hi, I live in the United Kingdom, and was wondering if there was a legal age at which you are allowed to purchase shares??

Thanks

  1. In the US, I think it's 18, but if you're younger than that, you can set up something called a custodial account under the Uniform Gifts To Minors Act (UGMA) or Uniform Transfers To Minors Act (UTMA). With that your parent or guardian has the legal responsibility to manage the account until you turn 18 or 21 (depending on your state) at which time it becomes yours.

  2. I would think it would be the same as in the US 18 but your parents could always buy it for you in their name with the proceeds going to you

  3. in the us, you can buy anything as soon as you're born.  not sure about the uk/eu.
