How old do you have to be to pick who you want to live with in California?

I want to live with my mom. We switch off every week. I hate being with my dad and his girlfriend. Would I have to give reasons? Would my dad find out? The problem is, I have a brother whos absolutely fine with the switching off. I just got a new puppy, so could that be an excuse? Ugh, I need a lot of advice. Thanks.

I'm sure just like every other state, most of the time the court wants to make sure your mature enough to make this decision or either your making it for the right reasons and that one of the parents isn't talking to you about this. A new puppy will not make the judge any difference in ruling on this.  It would be best if you talked to both of your parents about this before going any further.
