How old do you have to be to ride a vespa in Rome?

What's the driving age for a vespa in Rome and how much does it cost to rent one for an hour or so?

if the power of the engine is "under 50"u have to be 14,if not so over 18

I'm going to Rome in May and I researched scooters.  It seems the traffic is unbelievably chaotic - like stop signs and red lights are just optional.  I will wait until I get there before I commit to renting a scooter.

It depend on the power of the engine... I'm italian, we have some rules about it... If the engine doesnt' go over 50 cm^3 of displacement you need to be at least 14... if is more than 125 you must be 16... if still more you need to be 18...

to further the previous answer on age. if you have a car drivers licience you can also ride the vespas & mopeds up to 50cc. if you don't then you have to sit an exam what ever age you are.

costs range from about 30 euro per day

If you've never driven in Rome or for that matter ever driven a scooter, I suggest NEVER to try it!!  It's a free ticket to suicide!!!
