I started skiing at Breckenridge as soon as I was able to stand on my dad's ski's and then I was big enough to get my own skis.  This is an interesting question.  I am wondering if you are asking because you know of a place with an age requirement.  Or maybe because other sports like waterskiing and snowmobiling you have to be a certain age.

my nephew is in Aspen with his mommy and daddy, and he's quite a good little skier for barely two, there is no age limit

No age limit on skiing. You'll see some awefully little tykes zipping down the mountains. Sans poles.

i am a certified ski instructor, thru psia.org, and i am here to tell you there is no minimum age, we teach children as early as 2 years old, up to senior citizens. the terrain in colorado , is a bit differnt than most areas, because the trails are much longer, so more likely a little guy will tire out sooner than say a teenager. Most ski areas have incentives for children where they ski for free until age 7, check the guidelines with the mountain of your choice. I, have skiied at vail, breckenridge, keystone and copper, i, am a hugh fan of VAIL, its so beautiful, and the skiing is pristine, lots of wide open trails, for all ages and abilities, have a great time
