  1. I believe you have to be 14 to log time

    16 to solo

17 for private license, IFR, multi engine, sea planes

18 for commercial, otherwise its illegal to fly for money

23 for ATP,which you need  for airlines

  2. Any age for lessons

    16 to solo

    17 for license.

    You'll need 20 hrs dual-instruction

    ...20 hrs solo

    ...2 hrs cross-country flight time

Note that you'll need to pass the private pilot knowledge test before you can take lessons and you will also need an airman's medical certificate.

It will cost you $2000-10000 to complete your training and get your certificate.

Before you put that amount of money into it, see if you can take an introductory flight with an instructor at your local airport or go up with a friend who is a pilot. Make sure this is something you really want to do and that you like it and are committed to it before you begin your training. Do a lot of research. Flying feels a lot different in a Cessna 172 than in a commercial 757 but it is one of the coolest experiences in the world and one of the greatest things you can possess is your pilot's license. My neighbor has been bringing me along on some flights and I love it. I'll be starting my training pretty soon and I cant wait for the day to get my license. Good luck and pursue it.

  9. You can start training at any age. You do not need to be 14 to log the time. You do not need to complete the written test before you start lessons.

You must be 16 to fly solo under the supervision of an instructor. You need 10 hours of solo as part of your flight training (not 20).
