Lol, I saw that Etrade commercial with that baby trading stock, so I wondered if it would be possible for a baby to do that if he physically could.

  1. You have to be 18 (or otherwise of the age of majority in your state or country) in order to engage in any contract, including that to open a brokerage account.

Parents of a minor can generally open any such account in a child's name.

  2. i think it's 18

  3. In the United States you must be 18 years old to open a brokerage account in your name

You can have one of your parents open a custodian account for you.

The commerical was showing that the firm's website was so easy to use a baby could do it

ADAM S is dead wrong, in the United States parents CAN NOT open an account in the name of a minor, they must use a custodian account, there is a big difference

MORINGFOXNORTH  is also wrong, in the United States parents can not give a minor trading authorization

  4. "Adam S."  is correct, mostly.  But if you have rich and gullible (and perhaps stupid would help also) parents, have THEM open the account, and give YOU trading rights on it.  You don't have to be 18 to be your parents "agent".

  5. I think its the age of 16.

Not sure really, i'm not sure if its 16 or any age!
