  1. Maybe 16 you can take a class if your school has a preK program in the high school for the teachers/student's children. Our school had "kiddie-hawks" that was kids of the students and teachers and it was a class called "child development" you could take every day.

  2. the best way to find out is to contact any licensed center in your area and ask them.  or you can check teh local licensing standards in your state.

  3. There are usually school programs in High Schools that allow you to earn credits and volenteer at a pre school. This usually intails reading to them, and not much more, however, its a good experience to have.

  4. I think you can volunteer as early as 14 in some states. But brush up on your grammar and spelling before you attempt to get a job anywhere.

  5. Call the school and ask to speak to the director or assistant director of the school. He/she will know the licensing requirements of your state, and can tell you how old you must be to work or volunteer there.

You can also check into volunteering in the nursery at your church/synogogue/mosque (if you belong to one)--they tend to use volunteers quite a bit to work with smaller children during church services. That would be great experience, especially if you think you'd like to do this as a job.
