How old do you have to be to work at Applebee's?

they have a help wanted sign out so I'm getting ready to go there and ask for an application but I know they serve alcohol so I was wondering if I have to be a certain age to work there?

I live in IL, I know some states have different laws, and I'm 16.

I want to apply for a waitress position...

To serve alcohol, you have to be 18. Some restaurants make exceptions, but they're not supposed to and these are usually found in very small towns in the U.S. A corporate establishment like Applebee's is guaranteed to follow all the rules, however if they're desperate or, in some cases store policy allows, they will have you serve but somone else will handle and run any alcohol to all of your tables. That way, they find a loop hole where you can be a server but never, EVER, actually handle any alcohol so the company is therfore not breaking any laws!  Pretty creative huh? But normally, they like to keep it simple and only hire servers who are 18 or 21 depending on the legal serving age in your state.

In order to be a waitress in any state, you have to be 18.

Bussers, hostesses, dishwashers are different cases. Try to be a hostess. I'm almost positive you have to only be 16.
