  1. The daycare I used to work at had a 17 year old girl working there. she was not allowed to stay alone w/ the kids or  anything. She was an extra pair of hands and a floater( she went where she was needed for coverage). This was a fairly big daycare so she was always needed somewhere.

  2. I started working in day care when I was 16. I started as a teacher's aide - I was not allowed to be alone with children, I was there to play with the children mostly. I changed diapers, cleaned sometimes, and had a great time getting to know the kids. I learned so much! I'm 20 now, and still work at the same child care center, now as a lead teacher. : )

My boss hired me because I was responsible, had babysitting experience, and I was interested in  becoming a teacher in the future. Go check a few centers out - a lot of them will be glad to give you the job for YOUR benefit.

  3. Techincally 16 is good HOWEVER they probably can't leave you in the room alone until the age of 18. This miht hinder you in getting a job because there will instances where you will have to be alone.

  4. You have to be 19 where I live.
