  1. Whats a iguanan....

  2. 17. i work there. iguanas..depend on where you get them..

  3. A baby iguana will typically run you between 15 and 20 dollars.  Adult iguanas are much more.

In addition to the iguana itself, you can expect to spend a very good chunk of money to provide a proper set up.  Do not fall for the common trick of thinking that an iguana can live in a 10 gallon aquarium, or that if you keep an iguana in a small enclosure that it will keep the animal small.  These are myths.  A baby iguana will outgrow a 10 gallon tank in only a few months, and will outgrow a 50 gallon tank in its first year.  For the first year, though, a large aquarium will make a fine enclosure.  After that though, an iguana enclosure should be at least twice the length of the iguana and should be TALL. Six feet is the minimum habitat height recommended. Iguanas are arboreal (tree climbing) and feel most comfortable up high. The width of the cage should be at least half your iguana's length. The bigger the cage, the better off your iguana will be. Not only does an inadequately sized enclosure stress an iguana out, but iguanas that are kept in too-small cages injure themselves fighting the cage. Nose wounds and broken claws indicate that the iguana has been scratching at the cage walls or door or rubbing its nose along the glass or screen, trying to find a way out. Cages that are too small also limit the iguana's movement and climbing ability. Weakness in the muscles often results from lack of climbing exercise. If you cannot devote a lot of space to a large cage, or provide a lot of free roam space, then you need to consider getting a smaller pet.  You can expect to spend at least a few hundred bucks on the enclosure.

All of the lights and heating pads, along with the humidifiers and other things they need will also run you a few hundred.

On the plus side, their food is generally cheap and easy to find (in the summer you can even find food for them out of your yard).
