How old do you have to be to work at valleygirl?

The minimum age to work in many Australian states is 14 years and 9 months, however it does differ from state to state.  To check the minimum in your state contact the Workplace Infoline on 1300 363 264 between 8.00am and 7.00pm Monday to Friday.  For South Australia call 08 8303 2400 and ask what the minimum age for employment is.  The link on their website is not currently working.

When looking for a job at Valleygirl they will ask you about your experience.  If you are young you may not have any retail experience yet.  I went through that when I was looking for my first retail job and all you want is for someone to give you a break!

Write up your CV/resume and get two references together (they may be from school teachers, a family friend, someone who you babysat for etc).  This will help to get you noticed.

Tell them that you are really interested in fashion and have looked around the shopping centres and you decided that Valleygirl was the best fit for you.  Tell them that you really like how current the clothes are and how you like the way they have such a big range.  

You could also tell them that you check out the different trends in magazines (your local library will have a collection of these for you to see) which will be good for when customers have questions or need help styling an entire outfit.

You will need to show them that you are really interested in working there and that you chose them because they were the best.  Obviously you can say the same thing to other stores too!

There is an online application process, however you may score more points by going into a store and personally handing your details to the store manager.
