How old do you have to be to work in washington?

i'm moving to the state washington and i was just curious about how old you have to be to legally work.

Federal law sets the minimum age at 14 if the employer is subject to the law "As a general rule, the FLSA sets 14 years of age as the minimum age for employment, and limits the number of hours worked by minors under the age of 16". See http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/youthlabor/... for details.

Most employers are unwilling to hire anyone under the age of 16 because of the limited hours and other requirements that apply to hiring 14 and 15 year olds.
