How old do you have to be when you play GTA 4

Well your supposed to be 18 as that us the rating on the game. Many people think that due to the games huge mobster,violence,drugs and prostitution dependency that it should be higher than 18's. I personally started playing the games at 14 and it has had no effect on me. But many school murderings etc have been blamed on games with this type of nature.

by law its 18 but i first discovered the world of gta at 14 years old.if you keep an open mind when your playing these games and you know that most of the **** that goes on isnt real,your fine.,convincing your parents to let you have it is an other thing

its not necessary to be adult to play GTA 4 but according to the games law you should be 18+

The ESRB gave the game an M rating which means that it contains content which may be unsuitable for people that are under age 17 (other countries have rated it for 18+).  However there is no actual age limit for when you play and it is basically up to a parents disgression whether or not their children can play it.  As far as I know there is no actual law that says that anyone under age 17 cannot purchase M rated games, but most stores like Wal-Mart, Target, etc have policies preventing anyone under the age of 17 from purchasing the games without a parent present and approving of it.
