What is the youngest age most restaurants will hire at?

(I am fifteen, and worried I might not find a job until I turn 16)

Restaurants such as Denny's, IHOP, sit-ins like that!

  1. Nobody at a resturaunt will hire you until you turn sixteen.

Even then some won't hire until your eighteen.

  2. Some fast food places might hire you. Or a restaurant as a bus boy. 16 is the age most people want. But you might get lucky. You'll have to be persistent and get your application in as many places as possible.

The best way to get hired is to fill out the application and then ask to hand it directly to the manager on shift. Introduce yourself and tell them you're looking for employment. This shows that you're not afraid and that you are eager. Something managers look for - and will give you a better shot at the job.

15 is the legal age you can be hired in most states, but they also have limits on the number of hours. For instance in California anyone under the age of 18 can't work more than 15 hours a week.

Good luck to you! Go for it!

  3. Well, I actually worked at one when I was 15.

It just depends on the place.

Idk why everybody else said you have to be 16 & stuff.

Not all places require you to be.

There are a few places in my town that have 14 & 15 year olds working at them...

Although Im pretty sure its not exactly legal.

    Haha.

    But yea.

Just ask the manager or whoever how old you have to be

    :]

  4. I think it depends on your state. I live in NY state and you can be 16 to work in a restaurant but you must have "working papers" and you can only work a certain amount of hours.  when your 18 your allowed to work more hours, also you are allowed to use certain equipment you cant use when you are under 18 (i.e. Slicer). Also I think you have to be 21 to serve alcohol.  Like I said you have to look up the particulars of your state, but you may find information on your state's "Department of labor". As for under 16 years, you may want to look into youth employment, (also look or call your dept of labor about that)  Hope this helps, good luck.

  5. 16.

18 with an abc card if alcohol is served.

  6. same as everywhere else 16 and a half thats the legal age as i know it anyway i googled it and found 16 to be right

  7. 16 years old minimum

  8. 15 and 9 months
