How old do you think child should be ?

how old do you think a child should be before they have a computer in there room if it is montiered and parental controlls on at all times with limited internet use.

thats a good question! I guess its goo to put parental controls on it but even then they are so smart they can get around it. I don't know maybe 16? drive a car and a computer! haha

never ever,these kids that are using computers at 5and 6 can always find new things to get into and hide where they have been, they even have their own language so parents donut know. like  pos is parent over shoulder and that's it the conversation ends.not a good idea at all.my husband and I never let my step daughter have one and ours was always angled facing all rooms and the persons back would be to us giving us a clear view.

We gave our child one when she turned nine.  She only has access to websites we send to her computer via our wireless setup.  She has math, history other games on it.  No other Internet.

Computers should be kept in a common area.  This goes for children and parents.  It's a great safeguard for the whole family.

I also think that it is dangerous to let children have computers in their rooms... Maybe put it in a room where there are always someone around.. Then they get use to someone being around and wouldn't even think of trying to sneak around.. If they want it in there room.. it is likely they want to do something that they don't want you to see.. I guess you have to judge each child, by how much you trust them and check on them regular .. even if they are right in front of you... Good Luck : )

4. -No kidding... The Computer is a WONDERFULL tool for Educating & Entertaining a young Child... FAR better than  TV- because YOU'LL have more control over WHAT they see & do there. JUST make sure that they don't spend more than an hour, or two (on rainy days...), a day on it. Young people should be Out & About, playing OUTSIDE as much as they CAN- getting the Exercize, fresh air, and into the Mischief they NEED- to help them Grow Up properly...  :)

I don't think a child should ever have the Internet in their rooms, as long as you have the Internet in the house what do they need it in their room for. My child is 14 and as long as I give her access to the Internet she is happy with that. Now as far as just a computer without the Internet access I think when they start 3rd grade it would be best, that is when they start reports and things.

Never! You would be horrified what they get up to on it and you will never know. They can get round all sorts of parental controls.

2 or 3 months old. The earlier you get them familiar with a computer, the better they will be.

For a child, no computer in his/her own room. Put it in a public place, even if it's inconvenient.

We have ours in the living room (yes, it's a pain), with screen facing out.

Well i am currently 14 and I didnt get a computer in my room until I was 13 and a half Lol.

Id say around 13 because if they are younger they may sneak on the computer at night and since it is in their room and is easy to play.

But when they are 13 they are a little more responsible.
