  1. she just needs to be a good swimmer and able to stand on the board!!! it is up to you to make sure you go to safe beaches and someone is there nearby incase she does need help..

you can always try her with a boogie board foirst, they are pretty fun anyhow

  2. some clubs have age restrictions but most of them let anyone of any age in

  3. min 6-8 I would think

  4. i think thats a perfect age for her to start learning.

  5. well my best mate was taught by her uncle at the age of six too start with on boogie boards, untill she got the confidence too sit up then stand up by the age of 10 she was still learning now at 27 she is hooked on surfing and a real pro

good luck a fantastic sport too do my friend loves it, and i love watching her cos she is truley amazing at it

  6. yes too young

i doubt she can swim well enough to consider going out in the surf

    there are rip tides etc

keep her close in the sea dont turn your back for a second.

no she is way way too young.

maybe boogie boarding in the shallows but with a life jacket.

  7. If she can swim and stand up she is old enough to surf.

  8. When my brother wanted to learn to surf, my mom put him into swimming classes - as soon as he became a strong swimmer in the advanced, competitive classes, she allowed him to start surfing.  That way his swimming was strong enough to have her less worried about him on the ocean.

Think about it, when surfers fall off their surfboards and get dragged under by the waves,  can you handle the thought of your five year old in that situation?  More to the point, do you think she's ready for that sort of situation?

    My advice:   Swimming classes.

  9. I definitely think she should try surfing. Surfing is awesome and the younger you learn the better because you have more experience. I think as long as someone is watching her at all times she is fine. Lots of people learn at young ages to and as long as there not that big of waves I think she would have a good time.

  10. well its best if you guys know how to surf, my parents surfed and they tought me

    min:7yrs

  11. when i learned to surf i was about 7 i think that was the limit because i kno there was no one younger than me. and in some of my classes i take is ages 8 and up...... but there IS a class that i kno of in florida that takes 6-7... they teach the basics!

also it may be younger or older.. dependsthe place, if you find a place for surf lessons your comfortable with then ask them the age.

you may also get a personal trainer if you would like to

    glad i could help!!

  12. They have too be able to swim and walk plus have good balance. I think she is much too young but so could find an alternative just as fun.Good Luck.

  13. old enough to swim and you know not drown.

  14. For me, you need to learn how to swim first. Then the way waves work. Then you can learn how to surf.

I put my nieces and nephews on since they are under a year old.

  15. If she can walk, swim and balance, she should be fine. If you're going through a specific instructor or school check with them. Find out what boards they teach on, foam topped-boards are pretty common now for teaching And are a lot easier on a fall. But really check with the school and you're the parent, so you know your kid more than I or any instructor would.

  16. Age is not really an issue with surfing. It is more to do with her skill in the water. Is she a strong, confident swimmer. You have to remember that she will be in the ocean with waves and strong currents and rips. These can get experienced swimmers into difficulties at times.

The beach is a beautiful place but it can be very dangerous and people do get into difficulties and can die.
