How old does a kid have to be to drive a unmotorized boat in washington state?

  1. Fyi you don't drive a boat, you run it. With no motor you are either rowing, paddling, or sailing.


  2. well, i have family up in washington. and i drive boats all the time. im only 14 but i started driving boats 3 years ago.  you have to be atleast 14 to own a boat i think. i still dont own a boat  but i plan on getting one soon.

    i dont think it really matters how old you are. as long as your with parent supervision you could be two.

    when an adult has a liscence to drive a boat he could let anyone on the boat drive it.

  3. Hey kid... There is no official "age requirement"... You just need to be old enough to have enough common sense not to do anything dangerous or stupid.  If you are old enough to handle the rudder, or a paddle... Go for it!   But don't forget... you do have to wear a USCG (Coast Guard) approved Life jacket.

  4. Depends on the county for motorized but any kid with a lifejacket on can "drive" a non- motorized rowboat.
