  1. Pygmies are known as the "bulldog" of the goat world because they tend to have difficulties giving birth.  They should never be bred before 12 months of age for this reason.  Many reputable breeders wait until 18 months of age since they are less likely to have problems as they get older.

    As far as when they *can* be bred, the can physically get pregnant as soon as they have their first heat cycle, which is anywhere between 2 months and 6 months of age.  It is very important that they are separated from any bucks by the time they go into their first heat because it is unlikely they would be able to successfully deliver kids at that age.
