  1. Right now, as you read this, healthy rabbits are being killed at animal shelters simply because there are more wonderful rabbits than there are rabbit-people.

What can we do to stop the killing? Adopt from a shelter.

Do not allow your rabbit to have even one litter. Even if you find good homes for those babies, those are good homes that the shelter rabbits won't get. And what if each of those babies is allowed to have one litter? Will you take responsibility for each of them finding a good home? I can guarantee that within one or two generations a rabbit from that "just one litter" will end up dead at a shelter.

Talk to others about this problem. Many people are unaware of how many rabbits are being surrendered and euthanized at shelters-and compared to the ones who are dumped in fields, those at shelters are the lucky ones. Lucky to have a lethal overdose of sodium pentothal injected by a caring person!

What have we come to when that's the best we can offer these guys? To purchase from a breeder or pet store is to write a death warrant for a shelter rabbit. When you adopt from a shelter, you are saving TWO rabbits - the one you adopt, and the one who can come in and fill his spot.

    It's as simple as that.

  2. Six months is the recommend age, they can breed before that but things can go very wrong. You shouldn't breed rabbits unless you know alot about their history, like have they any abnormalities in their genes? Can you trace back to their grand-parents? What colours do they carry in their genes? Are they show quality? Are they bother the same breed and are purebreed?

You shouldn't breed rabbits of different breeds and they shouldn't be bred if they aren't show quality or if they are bought from a petshop, theym shouldn't be breed if you know nothing about their history and genes as things could go terrible wrong. It is classified as irresponsible if you do.

  3. They can be bred around 6 months they shouldnt be bred until about a year.

Im gonna be very unpopular but...

Please fix your rabbits there are so many unwanted ones in shelters that need homes. The house rabbit society often offers rebates if you use one of their vets. Find a chapter near you here: http://www.rabbit.org/

Rabbits also tend to live longer when they are fixed.

  4. It depends on the breed of the rabbit most rabbits are ready to breed at 5 to 6 months old. It really depends but not recommended that age. If you plan on breeding a rabbit you should only let it have 4 litters max and make sure you have a home for them before you breed them and if you give them to the pet sstoreyou should check some use them as snake food that's  sad. Also the first litter might not live so dint feel bad if you have a small breed watch the peanut or they can die at 5 weeks old keep them warm and safe!!!! Don't forget a nesting box after 28 days of being breed together. after your done with breeding get her fixed so she dosent have temper mental, and aggression.

I have 7 adorable rabbits and a fat prego lol
