WWDC signed on the air in 1947 playing the "Beautiful Music" format. The station didn't become DC101 until the early '70s when it started playing rock music. That would make DC101 about 35 years old and WWDC-FM 60 years old.

The AM sister station played Top-40 during the '60s and was the first station in the US to play a Beatles song.
