How old is my baseball bat?????

It was given 2 me by my grandpa who is now deceased. It is a louisville slugger bat 35inches long and the model is BB497. If any one can help me uncover the history of this bat i would greatly appriciate the help!! Thanx

the manufacturer and asking when
