  1. Our current figure is 13.7 billion years.

EDIT: Is it a full moon or what? ;)

Juniper, I suggest you ask this question again when the kiddies are in school:) Or maybe on a Sunday morning.

  2. I agree!!

    Its 6000 years old

    And i watched those DVD's!!!

Everything got revealed to me... Now i know that everything the National Pornographic (oops i mean National Geographic) is saying is a LIE!

  3. One explanation for this is that time does not exist objectively at all but is merely a function of the human mind.  "In other words, what we experience as time is nothing more than the way our mind orders events so that we can make sense of our experiences.

    Brennan

    * edit: In response to ignorant thumbs, they don't really bother me; I know you like to barf out all this garbage you read in a book, mag or watched on the science ch...  but time is nothing more that a coordinate, and asking or answering a one versed t**d like how "old is it" or "it is 18 billion banana seeds, is -  is -   is -   is just simply preposterous without the addition inquiry of "from where" and not the big bang- there is a bigger question and a bigger answer.  Take for example, "how old you are" you can bable out 23 or 32 and a half, but it could be counted in breaths, heart beats, life long chess moves or even the amount of questions asked or answers given.

Next time try to answer the question without repeating everything you think you know.

Electro House is about the only person that answered and actually has a head on their shoulders!!!!

  4. Most say 13.7 billion years old. But you could come up with any number between 10 billion and 15 billion and a highly respected professor would agree with you. Just as long as the answer isn't 6000 years, your safe.

  5. I think it's always existed, whether there was matter in it or not.

  6. Approximately 13.7 billion years!

  7. You are in luck!  While others must rely on theories or models (or, lol, AUTHORITIES) to ESTIMATE or CALCULATE (or Proclaim) the age of the Universe, I was Present at the Beginning and can tell you precisely:

The Universe started at 02:23:04.121201 on 14/08/2008 CE.

For the first several minutes I was the only person present, that's why I'm sure nobody else actually KNOWS.  Bow and give praise.

  8. IT IS 6000 YEARS OLD......

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BILLION BILLION BILLION YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THATS JUST A g*y BIG BANG THEORY, JUST LIKE THE EVOLUTION!

DONT BELIEVE IN ALL THE SCIENCE c**p IN THESE DAYS!!!!!!

  9. I believe the answer is 13.7 billion years giver or take a few tenths of a billion... although, this is the time between now and the Big Bang. Who knows what came before that... the universe may just be an infinite loop of events where then the universe is infinitely old.

  10. the term of infinite comes to mind.

these days it's also a little un-PC to say 'the' universe.  more correct would be 'our' universe.  there are apparently an infinite amount of those, too.

  11. Not very I don't think
