  1. there is nothing in what jesus taught about the age of the earth

  2. Abraham to Jesus in Matthew 1:1-17

Adam to Jesus (back words) in Luke 3:23-38

From Adam to Jesus was about 4000 years, then from Jesus to us was about 2000. 4000+2000=6000

The earth is 6000+ years old.

  3. No specific age is stated by Jesus (or elsewhere in the Bible) for how old the earth is.  No date is given for when it was created.

  4. The Bible doesn't say.

  5. None of the Gospels mentions the age of the Earth explicitly. It was roughly about 2000 years between The Creation and The Flood, about another 2000 between then and the birth of JESUS CHRIST and then about 2000 to date. So about 6000 within error.

  6. what about this: read the bible and know your answers

  7. I didn't know that Jesus produced any Gospels as they came later and in the New Testament there is no reference to how old the earth is only Geneses of the Old Testament which is only about 2,600 years old anyway.

  8. The Bible does not state the age of the world.

  9. He never said.

  10. You can't figure it out from the Bible.  Although we consider the bible inspired, that doesn't mean everything is to be taken literally.  Some of it should be, but some of it is poetic, and some things are stories with an important point.  Sometimes, we can't tell, and therefor it's left up to the reader to determine if something is literal or not.

Personally, I'm not comfortable with what one of God's days are as they are mentioned in Genesis.  Scientist have determined, logically, that it is about 4.5 billion years old.  This does not contradict the Bible, it just means we don't really understand everything that happened at this time, at least in the literal fashion.

What we do take from the Bible, is that God created the Earth (and the Universe), He created life and He created us (Adam and Eve).
