  1. The most recent information I have about it is that in June, the IAU changed it from a dwarf planet to a Plutoid.

All levity aside, it its shortest distance from Earth, Pluto is 2.7 billion miles form Earth.  The speed of light is 186,000 miles per second.  If I didn't drop any zeros, that makes 4 hours for light to reach us when Pluto is at its closest.

  2. the newest info I now of pluto is that it's not a planet! Now we only have 8 planets in our system and not 9.

  3. It's tempting to figure out the light travel time from Pluto and claim that if you're looking at Pluto right now, it's that old.  But as a point of fact, there is no absolute time reference in this Universe.  When the light gets to you, that's when it happens in your local time frame.  The time it happened in Pluto's time frame isn't meaningful on Earth.

  4. If some human went to Pluto, her information would be practically less than 1/10 of a second old (mostly the time for nerve impulses to get from  the eyes to the brain).

For us poor people stuck here on Earth, Pluto is about 4 hours and 16 minutes away by light travel time (or radio), and getting further way for the  rest of our lives.

  5. The amount of time it takes for the suns reflection to bounce from Pluto to earth...whatever that is.

  6. Eventually, we'll have the technology to move Pluto into orbit of the Earth if we want.

    So, about two seconds old.
