How old is too old for a male hamster to mate?

I have a almost 2 year old teddy bear hamster. Is it too late to mate him? He seems interested in the female, but hasn't done it.

What qualities does he have that make him worth breeding? Unless he's exceptional in some way, there's no reason for it, especially if you got him from a pet store. They should never be bred.

That aside, 2 years old is rather old, and he may not have the drive to mate that he once did. You shouldn't keep Syrians (any bear hamster) together, because they are likely to fight. Even if they are male and female.

I don't think hamsters ever get too old to mate, but if they do my best guess would be three years old because for a hamster, that is like their 90s.

it wont be too old for another 2 years. You just need to add a mating scent to their cages
