I've read how old is too old for a person to box as an amateur. But what about professionally?

  1. people go in in their thirties and forties all the time. But the oldest person that ever accomplished something big was antonio tarver. He didn't turn pro until he was 28. No one else at a later age that turned pro accomplished much.

  2. there is also masters boxing for boxers of any age over 30.  masters boxing has different age categories, and people in their 30s can box other people in their 30s, 40s box 40s, and people in their 50s box other people in their 50s.  so, there doesn't have to be any age that is too old to continue to enjoy boxing!  do a search on Google for masters boxing.  masters has other sports as well for people over 30.

  3. Well it depends on the person, just look at the following:

Rocky Marciano (started at about 25 years old which is old to start a professional career).

Jersey Joe Walcott (became the champion at 37 years old and still fought more many more years).

George Foreman (returned as a professional at 38 and became the champion for the second time at 45 years old).

  4. There really not an age limit in professional boxing. As long as you feel great enough to compete and can pass medical examinations, then commissions will give you the okay to fight.

  5. When the pain of getting hit and the pain of training outweighs the joy of getting in the ring...

  6. 25 plus
