  1. Seriously, if you need to ask, you are probably too young.

    Marriage is for-evah, and if its true love it can wait.  Don't rush into anything, you'll regret it.  If you can survive separation, and you are still in love after you give yourself time to mature, then plan marriage.

    Marriage age is  governed by the marriage laws of the state.

  2. 18 is the legal age in most states.  However if your parents will sign for you then you can be married as young as 16 in most states.

    I've known someone that was 16 and married to a military man.  You should be OK to do that.

  3. 18

    fool

  4. if i were you i'd do the same... lucky for you your mom approves. mine

    doesn't so me and my boyfriend are going to wait till I'm 18. =] right now I'm very young .. 15 . and he's 18. i totally get you. =] "we're young and in love & their too old to understand" these people think we cant do it. . . its okay... we'll prove them wrong. =]

    love him and care for him. take chances and dont be afraid.

    love.-dee.

  5. It's 18 whether they are in the military or not.

  6. The army does not make that determination, except when outside the United States (there are some regulations to the process of getting married in another country related to different military organizations and they all differ slightly) . Marriage laws vary state to state; if you are young (under 18) in almost all states you may have to have parental consent.

    In Mississippi you can be married at 17 as a male and 15 as a female without parental consent.

    see the following for a complete list of states:

    http://topics.law.cornell.edu/wex/table_...

    I am not sure of the laws of other countries . I know in Puerto Rico you have to be 21 without parental consent... not sure you want to get married there. (grin)

    Here is some info on getting married in other countries:

    note: Isn't it a shame you get all this wrong advice from people who don't even bother to look it up.

    The following is a regulation of the Air Force:

    Note the statement regarding state laws

    I put it in quotes so it's easy to find.:

    3.4. Applications for authorization to marry will be forwarded by endorsement to the commander having authority to approve the application. These applications must be accompanied by written and notarized consent of the parents or legal guardian of the applicant and of the intended spouse if he or she is under the "legal age for marriage without consent as prescribed by the laws of the state, territory or country of his or her respective domicile." If the laws of the country in which the marriage is to take

    place do not recognize the legal age of domicile as stated above, then the laws of that country shall apply.

    Bottom line in your case is either get parential concent or get married in Mississippi. The Army has no say.

  7. well how old are you? it all depends on what state you live in. and if your parents are willing to sign for consent. ive heard that in north carolina you can be married at age 16 without your parents consent but i have no clue if thats true or not. and if you really do want to get married make sure its for the right reasons. not just for wedding or the flowers and dresses. cause all that stuff is over in a few hours, a marriage shouldnt be. good luck! tell your soldier we are grateful for his service!

  8. The legal marriage age varies slightly from state to state, but regarding the military I believe that you must be at least 18. Honestly, I think you should be even older than that.

    It's nice that you want to marry your soldier so that you can be with him always, but that's not how it works in the Armed Services. A military marriage is much more difficult than being married to a civilian. Even if you're married, that doesn't mean that you'll be with him all of the time. It can be difficult to secure base housing, and unless his rank is high enough for a decent BAH he may not be able to find a place for you both everywhere that he'll be stationed. Being a soldier's bride is not for the weak. You have to be able to stand on your own, be independent, smile and be brave in circumstances that would send most women screaming from a building.

    Read this, but substitute your man's branch for "Navy". this should give you an idea of what will be expected of you;

    Bear in mind that divorce rates are higher than they are for civilians;

    Good luck on your mission, should you be old enough, and choose to accept it.

  9. WOW you're 16 and he's been in the military 5 years already? Um, I'd say he's a lil old for you. You need to wait unil you're 21 to even think about marriage AND to a military person. I'm engaged to a Navy Seabee and it's not all it's cracked up to be. You need to grow up some before you make any kind of decision.
