How old must you be to sell alcohol UK?

sum girl at wrk has stitched me up for sumthing she has done and i kno she has a second job in a pub serving alcohol and cooking the meals that ppl buy....she is 17

how old must u be to serve alcohol at the bar and how old must you be to cook the food they sell?

also do you need a licence/qulification to cook the food that people pay for?

  1. in usa its 18 to sell alcohol and 21 to drink it. but i dont know about the UK.  I imagine its the same though

    Re food there are a number of basic hygiene courses that now have to be completed or being studied before you can hanlde food for public consumption.

    the Pub near us had the landlords granddaughter doing so on work experience with permission.

  9. uve gotta b 18 to sell it...if she's not taking money directly for the drinks then its legal...nd 2 b in the kitchen u can b ummmmm 14/15. i dont think u need a qualification to cook the food that people pay for...hope this helps

  10. yeah, u need to be 18 to sell alcohol, and pretty sure you need basic food hygiene to provide food to the paying public,

    wouldn't do the revenge thing though, sometimes feels right at the time, but where does it end, if i were you, i would remind her quietly that you could report her, let her stew n worry as to wether you really will, it'll make her sorry she stitched u up

  11. 18 to sell any alcohol on any premises in the UK,as for food preparation on the premises that would all depend on the employment requirements,16 and older can work in McDonald's for example,as long as they meet all health and safety requirements and food hygiene standards there should be no problem,,,

  12. It used to be 18, and is possibly going to rise to 21 soon.  As far as I know you dont need to be licenced as such to cook food, but I think you deffinately need a health and hygine certificate.
