  1. When it has been fully weaned by the breeder.  Good breeders do not sell unweaned babies.  The larger the species, the longer it generally takes them to wean.  Only the very small birds (like parrotlets) will be weaned and ready for new homes at 8 weeks.

  2. The best age to buy a bird is when they are first weaned. Each bird has a different weaning time. As far as what type of bird a little more information is needed. It would help to know what size you are looking for/can afford. Do you want to train it? Do you want one that talks? Yes, you can put your bird in your bedroom. Is noise a factor? Have you had birds before?

  3. around 8 weeks is best, many parrots are cute! if you are going for a small one i would say a congo african grey or even smaller a conure they are the small bird with a HUGE personality if you're going for a bigger one i would say a cockatoo or a macaw and you should put it in your room -- they become very lonely when there's not much going on i would say keep him/her in the most busy room in your house if they get bored or lonely they will pluck their feathers :( and none of us want that!

    Hope this helps!

  4. i think you should go on myzer and click pet toys or more and their birds are about 30 and 60$. they have allot of birds. and you should go on birdchannel.com to learn about birds, what they need, how to keep them healthy, buy toys and much more. and yes it is ok if you put your bird in your bedroom.

  5. If you want cheap - do not buy a parrot.

They need lots of good food, lots of new toys to replace the old and a very large, commercial cage.

    How about a hamster instead?

  6. The age is different for different species.  Wait until the bird is weaned, then take the baby home.  You can put a deposit down on a baby/egg but wait till it is weaned to actually take him/her home.

Some birds that are fairly common and less demanding are cockatiels, lovebirds, budgies, smaller conures (black cap or green cheek).  But expand your searcha dn find a parrot that fits your lifestyle.  There are senegals, red bellied parrots, and other conures.  Some good places to buy bird toys are bobo's playhouse, www.theperchstore.com, and Parrot Island.  I can't say any are really cheap because often cheap bird toys aren't safe.  Be sure your links and chains are stainless steel or plastic/rope.  If you make yourown toys always be sure it is bird safe.  My gold capped conureliveshappily in my bedroom, as long as your parrot will see other parts of the house and gets ample attention ti doesn't really matter where the cage is stationed.
