My staffordshire bull terrier is five years old and has started to go grey around his muzzle.

Is this is health sign and is it a normal age for a dog to go grey?

  1. My hound mix started going gray when he was five. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

  2. Its different for every dog, just like humans

  3. a  lot has to do with genetics.

my staffordshire bull terreirs both started to go gray young.

I believe 1 was around 3 and the other 4

I would not worry about it.

  4. Just like some people dogs turn can start graying at any age.But on guys it looks good. This is not so much a health sign as just a normal age thing. But now is the time to start watching for a little joint pain,to start setting in,Its nothing to worry about just watch and treat him as he gets older.Glucosamine chondroitin will help if this becomes a problem.Tilks Mom

  5. Probably after 6 years old. My chocolate lived to be 16 years old and she started getting gray at about 10 years. I think they look sooo cute with their gray faces.

  6. Is he active? Is he healthy? Does he exercise? Is his food good quality?

Grey hair is not the biggest signal for anything usually but moreover how healthy they really are.

Have him get a full checkup so everything is fine and include a variety of veggies and good proteins (boiled unseasoned chicken, not red meat) in his diet.

    All the best.

  7. My beagle is starting to get a few grey hairs on her face and she's seven years old. I think it's a normal time for dogs to get grey hairs. I think it also depends on how the dog was taken care of.

  8.   It's a normal progression of life. Most dog start to gray around their muzzle.Remember a dog life is seven years to humans one. Most small dogs live much longer then large ones.Nine or ten is old for a lab. while fourteen or fifteen is old for a chihuahua.

  9. Just like with humans, getting gray hair is pretty much hereditary. Some get it early, others not till they're very old. I had a sheperd who started going gray when she was about five as well. It's nothing harmful, it's just nature.
