  1. Not only is there is no survival rate for anyone who even resembles a "child" in a motorcycle crash, it's illegal in every place I know of.

There's a reason why no one makes any approved safety gear for juvenile riders.

  2. 12 , you should both be wearing a helmet, (it would be just as bad for the child to see you die in an accident not wearing a helmet!!) and the first couple of rides should be pretty short.  I see nothing wrong with this as long as you are a responsible driver.  Sounds fun actually.

  3. 12 years old with a helmet. Make sure he put his hand around you

  4. never!  they dont belong on the back of motorcycles, not at all safe, if u look at the gear u need to even put them in the car how could it possibly be safe to put them on a motorbike?

  5. I would say when they are old enough and big enough to touch the foot pegs and when they are big enough to fit into all the safety gear:  helmets, boots, gloves, jacket, pants.  They actually make a child's riding belt that straps the kid to the person on the bike, too.

  6. In my humble opinion the minimum age should be18 years old. Obviously I am not a motorcycle fan, but with good cause. I know 6 people who owned motorcycles, 66% of them have (four) had serious accidents (one lost both legs and has become very bitter about life, one is a physical wreck whose insides are held together with Kevlar and will never walk without the aid of a cane, one is scarred on his back, legs, and arms so can't go out in shorts or shirtless). One of other riders stopped when his friend was killed on one, so know I only know one active rider. I'm sure you know motorcycle safety is not only dependent on the skill of the rider, but also dependent on the drivers of other larger vehicles on the road and on road conditions. There are just too many things outside of motorcycle riders control (especially a child passenger's). So, until a passenger is old enough to understand and accept the risk on their own, they should not be allowed on a motorcycle. Just my opinion. Good luck with you choice!
