The girl that I'm thinking about asking to be my flowergirl is going to be 12 right before my wedding. Is this too old?

  1. when I think flower girl I think ages 2-5 or even up to about age 8.  I think 12 is too old to be a flower girl.

but I have been to a couple of weddings where the flower girl was a tween or young teen and one g*y marriage where the flower girl was the couple's  best friend who was a 50 year old woman.

It's your wedding, do what you want.  If the young lady is thrilled to be your flower girl then go for it.

    Congrats.

  2. I don't think thats too old at all. Plus, its your wedding so you get to have whomever you want. I was a flower girl for my cousins wedding and I was 13. What mattered the most was that we were very close and they wanted me to be a part of their wedding.

  3. Honey, It's you're wedding, if you really want a 12 year old flower girl, you can have one.

  4. That's pretty old.  I have a 13-year-old and she'd be really embarrassed.  Can you make her a "jr. bridesmaid"?

  5. No. It's Not Too Old.

It's Your Wedding & You Could Have A 24 Yr Old Flower Girl If You Wanted.

    =)

  6. It's your wedding.  If you want her to be a flower girl and she accepts, let her be.  Who cares what other people think and/or say?  It's not their wedding.

  7. You might want to make her a junior bridesmaid.

  8. I think that the younger they are the better , like 5,6,7,...I personally wouldnt do 12 that's too old..

  9. It really depends on the girl and her body type- that's a crazy pre age.

If the girl looks young and can pass for a flower girl then yes but I  had HUGE b***s just sprout up one night and a stick body.  I won't have been able to pass for a flower girl at the age of 12.  My cousin who is 19 and is 4"8 and a size 0 could prob still pass for a flower girl.

As long as she doesn't look too old- her real age doesn't matter.

  10. I think it's fine to ask whomever you like to be in your wedding!

However, the tween ego is something to consider-- think about calling her a "junior bridesmaid" instead, and/or not dressing her in a "little girl" dress.  Perhaps put her in a toned-down or junior version of the bridesmaids dress.  She can still perform the function of a flower girl, and I'm sure be adorable, but not feel like a kindergartener!

  11. I don't think that is too old. If you would be a having a young girl to be a flower girl you have to make sure the little girl knows what she doing.

  12. twelve is a little too old for flower girl make her a Junior bridesmaid. Flower Girls are normally between 4--9 .

  13. no! these days that is quite normal! i was a flower girl when i was 13! noone can tell the difference! good luck!

  14. 12 is fine

  15. flower girls should be at least kindergartens or between 4~7. but it depends on which you like. at any rate, it's your wedding and not other's wedding. people differ their tastes and choices.

  16. How does she feel about it? Make sure her dress is not a "little girl" style. Good Luck.

  17. 4,6 ,7

that is okay, they can't be teens .

  18. no, as long as she does the job right!

  19. The younger the better.

It would be cute to have a really small baby girl walk down throwing flowers, something guests will remember when they recall your

    "cute wedding".

  20. Thats a good age.At least she wont mess up like a 4 yr old walking the wrong way.

  21. Well, usually flower girls are around teh age of 3 or 4, but at my cousin's wedding, she didn't know anyone that age who could be a flowergirl, so I was hers-at the age of 14!! my point is that if there's no one around that age, it's perfectly normal for older girls to be flower girls. Just don't call them that. Just ask her to be a junior bridesmaid and see if she wouldn't mind just tossing the flowers while she walks down. I've also seen maids of honor scatter the flowers!!

  22. If she's OK with being your flower girl, that's fine.  Although I don't know too many 12-year-old girls who would be OK with wearing a fluffy dress and scattering rose petals out of a basket in front of the bride.  What if someone from her class sees her??? LOL

Maybe you could upgrade her status to Junior Bridesmaid instead, and give her a mini version of the bridesmaids' dresses, and she could just carry a small bouquet instead of scattering petals.

  23. Well technically you can do whatever you want.

But I'd be concerned that she'd be embarassed to be a flower girl at that age. Girls that age that are involved in the wedding are usually Jr. Bridesmaids.

If you really want her to be a flower girl, a good way to make her not feel "too old" would be to have a very small girl like 1 or so, also be a flower girl. Then she can kind of hold the little girl's hand and help her throw rose petals down the aisle. That'd be cute!

  24. It's too old. Most flower girls are 3 to 8. If she's short then maybe it will be okay but I would just make her a junior bridesmaid which means nothing changes really except she wears a different dress.

  25. She should be 4 or 5.
