  1. normal for a boy potty training starts at around 2 1/2-3yrs i know it sounds like a long time away but u have to remember that girls natural advance faster then boys.  That's great that he is starting to show signs of wanting to potty train but do remember that just because he is showing signs means his body is ready.  For some reason with boys when they are that young they comprehend what your saying but by the time it gets from their brain to there p***s that they have to pee they've already pee'd.  just be patient and keep encouraging him.  Good luck

  2. I would wait until he is ready. Boys often go later than girls b/c their urinary nerves are some of the last to develop.

  3. When he can pull his pant up on his own. You might be starting a little young. At 13 months he wont know the concept yet. I started my son at 2.5 because he was more knowledgeable of what was going on.

  4. You may want to try to start.  But if you push it and they're not ready, you will just have a big battle on your hands.  My oldest son was trained between 2-2 1/2.  My youngest son is almost 2 and we have just started talking about it, but he is not ready yet.  Good Luck!

  5. Boys usually, you have to wait longer. My son was 19 months old when he was done potty training, it took him four months.

My daughter was 16 months old when she was done potty training, it only took her a month.  I would wait about a month until he wants to.

  6. Potty training criteria is pretty much the same for girls and boys, because you have to remember that above any age they are more alike before age three than any other.  If your son can not only pull down  his pants but also can identify when he is ready to go to the bathroom before it  happens then he is definitely ready.  Alternatively, I have heard that sometimes it takes up to age 4 to potty train boys.  Did you know that they make mini-urinals now for potty training boys?  I'm not sure how effective this is since you will have the double task of training them to do numbers one and two in different places.  It's good that your son has an older sibling to set an example.  Your daughter may not like it but maybe you should let your son randomly wander in on his older sister while she's going potty so that he knows what his expectations are.

  7. I don't think you can start too soon but you migh want to give him a few more months. Kids are all different & some will learn faster than others but the main thing is to be consistent and diligent.  It takes a 24/7 effort for optimum success so recruit the help of anyone else who sits with him and explain your methods to them.

  8. Wait until he shows some signs of being ready before you start potty training.  Remember, all children are different.  There is no particular age.
