  1. First of all, there are hundreds of approved parents waiting on every baby in the U.S. and abroad.  There is no shortage of adoptive parents whatsoever -- there is an abundance of them!

So......the NEED is for foster and adoptive parents for older school aged children in the state systems!

It takes very mature, settled, stable persons to qualify to adopt.  Keep the good thoughts and give it several years!

    Good luck!!

  2. In most countries the adoption waiting list is extremely long especially if you are able to have children of your own.  You may be able to adopt an older or handicapped child but we warned, this is not an easy task.  An older child will have many problems if he/she has been fostered and a handicapped child requires a lot of love and care. I would suggest you have a child of your own first before deciding on adoption. The requirements for adotion would be a stable home preferably with married parents in their late 20's or 30's although lesbians and g*y men are now able to adopt.  I believe that adotion through other countries is difficult and there is a lot of red tape and waiting.

  3. Fist of all I am very glad that you are looking for a child other than a newborn. I would stongly encourage you (and everyone else) however not to have biological children AND to adopt. I was adopted (at age 6) into a family with biological children and no matter how much you think you can do it you won't look and them all the same. No one can. Being married helps when you are adopting and you absolutely should adopt on a whim. Your boyfriend not being interested in the idea is a concern.

  4. Sounds like a great idea. I think that your boyfriend needs to be as keen as you are though in order to make it a success.

But I think its a brilliant idea.

    Good luck.

  5. I think you have to 18 but in the odd one or two places its 21 i think its agreat idea i myself am only 20 and very keen to have my own children but may not beable to so i will be very intrested if not able to have my own i think you should defenitly look  into it there are many children that need a loving home to take them in i think you doing a great job i8f you do decide to go in for adoption go for it

  6. You have to be 18 years or over to adopt, you can be single, g*y, straight or disabled.

Myself and husband passed the adoption board in July last year. We have been waiting for 11 months to be placed with a girl up to the age of 4. There are so many children in this and other countries waiting to be adopted. Hope you get through it, it does put a strain on you.

    Good luck

  7. You will find it extremely difficult to adaopt a child in the middle of having two of your own as the selection process rules out having another child on the heels of an adoption to secure the placement and ensure the child is not threatened by another younger sibling. if you wanted to adopt after you have finished your family then that is a different story and you would gain support from many of the local authorities for that, but there needs to be an age gap, and there are very few babies available more older children, and sibling groups.

  8. you have to be 18 but in some place you have to be 21 luff ya x*x
